P&O drinks package calculator: is it worth it?
Package prices verified from pocruises.com · 6 August 2026 · Bar prices estimated, cross-checked July 2026
The calculator needs JavaScript. You can still compare by hand: package prices and bar prices work without it.
Rules that catch people out
- All adults in the cabin must buy the same package — that's why the calculator multiplies by every adult, not just the drinkers.
- 15 alcoholic drinks per 24-hour period, counted from 6:00am, one at a time. Soft drinks stay unlimited.
- No service charge on P&O — tips are in the fare, so nothing gets added to these prices. US lines add 18% per drink; the calculator applies it per line.
- Minimum 5 nights — on shorter cruises there's no package to buy.
How the verdict is calculated
- Your bar bill uses typical onboard prices — see the full price list — and the package side uses the official price for your cruise length and purchase timing, not a single flat rate.
- It multiplies by every adult in the cabin, because P&O makes all adults buy the same package.
- It compares all four packages at once — sometimes Classic doesn't pay off but Alcohol-free does.
- When the gap is under 15%, it says so instead of pretending certainty.
- Sea days and port days can carry different drinking patterns — open "Advanced". Most people drink far less on excursion days.
